Certainly The Writing Skills Are Important For Any Professional Job

Brief sentences are snappy and punchy, and generally they make comprehension of your ideas very easy. Have you ever read the sentences that are ridiculously long, and if you have then you will get this point.

Sentences can often get too long for two basic reasons

First way

First, a writer may out in too many sub clauses into the sentences, making his or her train of thought hard to follow. For example there is an extract from an article that says, “Honda faces growing competition in the US, where economic conditions remain weak, from Mazda, a rival from Japan, which recently teamed up with Ford, North American automobile manufacturer, whose earnings have been severely dented by Europe’s debt crisis.”

So if you read an extract given above would surely send your head into a spin. You easily lose the thread, making it really unpleasant to read. The endless thought with in thoughts send you in circles, almost making you dizzy, and some people like write this unfortunately because they assume that long sentences make them appear smarter, perhaps. They go on and on with these long, convoluted sentences, imagining that the audience may be interested and impressed, but the reality is that they are more likely to be irritated by it.

Second way

The second way that thoughts end up becoming too long in sentences is when a writer simply strings too many points that could be broken up into shorter sentences. The example of this is an extract of The Guardian Newspaper says, “Tom Cruise has confirmed rumors that a sequel to 1986 classic Top Gun is in the works, with filming to begin “Probably in the next year, ”he revealed, while on the promotional tour of his upcoming film Mummy, telling Australian morning show Sunrise, it is definitely happening.”

It is not too difficult to follow this particular sentence, but just look at how many individual points are stacked together. The reader has to hold their breath for a pretty long time before they get to the end of that sentence. Take IELTS review in Dubai!

There comes a point when you cannot contain it; where it is uncomfortable to hold that breath. It is not as difficult to get as sentences that have these numerous thoughts within thoughts in them, but still the sort of endless points makes it still slightly too long for comfort. Shorter sentences than that allow readers to pause catch their breath.

So you want to decide consciously whether or not you have allowed a thought in sentence to stretch beyond the reader’s comfort zone.
